Time to be Determined

PAST EVENTS:

Oh yes . . . We made reservations to sail to England on the Queen Mary 2 next year, on May 1, 2022, God willing and the variants don’t rise! And wouldn’t it be fun if this time you come along with us for real? Think about it! You wouldn’t have to be crushed into suitcases and smuggled aboard and dance in the dark this time! Because yesterday I called Cunard to see what I could do to make that happen.♥️ I spoke to Susan Gannon and she said if you’d like to sail with us next year, you can call her at 800-468-7752 ext. 41663 and she will personally help make your reservations. You will have to mention that you’re part of the Susan Branch Girlfriends group, give them this group number: TNM, and voyage #M211 so they can keep track of us as a group . . . If there’s enough of us they’ll have special group pricing and other surprises. They had to cancel their entire spring and summer itinerary this year, which means that many of the people that didn’t get to go this year, will be going next year. So think fast! You would have to make a deposit, but you can cancel with complete refund if you do it by December 31, 2021, this year. It would give you extra time to decide for sure. Susan can answer any questions you have and you can call her anytime. This isn’t a tour like the kind you read about, where you have a “tour guide.” It’s more like one of our picnics, only on the ship!🚢

Lots of events as Susan celebrated her newest book, Home for Christmas!  Scroll down to see dates and times: Virtual Zoom parties from bookstores all over America, and you’re all invited! “Sunday Afternoon Tea with Susan,” through the fall and holiday season all the way to December. Please check back for dates, times, and links to sign up ~ something you can put on your calendar!

NOTE:  Each bookstore has its own policy, and handles tickets the way that works best for their business. I’m just a guest! If they require you to buy a book and you already have one, you can either purchase one for a gift, OR, look for another event where they allow guests without requiring a book purchase. They’re all different!♥️

NOVEMBER 8, 2020, 4pm EST. The Women’s Exchange of Winnetka, Illinois has hosted Susan several times with lovely tea parties in a beautiful large room filled with Girlfriends and flowers, tea cakes and sandwiches, and is now holding their first virtual Zoom event, November 8, 2020 at 4 pm EST. Tickets for our Christmas Tea are $20, and tax deductible, benefiting Women’s Exchange community for women. A slide show and special door prizes will be part of the event. Bring your cup of tea, cakes, and sandwiches and join us! Sign up HERE to receive your Zoom invitation.💖

We have TWO virtual Tea Party Events in October 2020 (also one in November and one in December, details to come) ~ BYO Cuppa! I’ll meet you at my kitchen table! The first October event will be via Zoom on Sunday, October 18, at 4 pm EST for Bookends Bookstore in Ridgewood, NJ … you can sign up HERE. Yes, there will be signed books and door prizes! The very next Sunday, October 25th, we’ll be hosted by the wonderful King’s English Bookshop in Salt Lake City, Utah, for a Crowdcast event …. you can register HERE.

Please Join us on September 20, for a Virtual Sunday Afternoon Christmas Tea Party
presented by the wonderful people at Titcombs Bookshop, just over the water on the Cape, from 3:30 to 4:30 pm
EST ~ BYO Tea
because you’re all invited to my first book event, Zoom Webinar for my new Home for Christmas book! Here’s where you can sign up! If you don’t know how to do Zoom, you can Google “Youtube how to use Zoom” and they will show you. It’s just a matter of which buttons to push ~ it’s easy. When you sign up, they will send you an invitation to our zoom party … which will have a link for you to click on the day of the event. Put it on your calendar!❤️

⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️

This Mother’s Day 2020 Event (below) was canceled due to Covid … and changed to a Zoom Webinar for August 18 and 19, 2020. You can access it on YouTube … 💞

I hope you can join me for a
Mother’s Day Tea/Twine booksigning event in Duxbury, Massachussets! It’s going to be amazing. Picture a room filled with spring flowers, teapots and garden clippings, with grandmothers, mothers, daughters and sisters (Husbands, grandfathers, dads, and brothers are welcome too!), a room filled with friendship, community, connection, books, hats, England, joy, kindred spirits, and a catered meal (they’re making recipes from my books!) that has both a Julia Child, AND a Prince Harry and Meghan connection ~ all in celebration of Mother’s Day!!! YES! YES! YES! We want everyone who would like to come, to join us … so we decided to do not one, but two events to make sure everyone gets a ticket. The first event will be a catered “Light Supper with Wine” (Twine!) on Wednesday, May 6, from 4 to 7 pm. The next day, on Thursday, May 7, from 1 to 3 pm, we’re having “An English Lunch with Tea.” For both events, I’ll be doing a presentation ~ I’m thrilled to be doing a show and tell with my favorite photos of the English Countryside, a little bit about history, maybe a dab of ancestry, and every wonderful thing I can think of about Beatrix Potter, including our Picnic at Castle Cottage. On top of that, each guest will receive their very own copy of the first chapter of ENCHANTED, my new book-in-progress! Andrea, the person in charge of this event, has many other little surprises, but they’re a secret . . . she’s as excited as I am. So, what’s on your calendar for May??? Registration begins 8 am, March 24th … online at www.duxburyseniorcenter.org ~ they’ve put nothing on their website yet, it’s too early. Put “Tickets!” on your calendar for March 24th so you don’t forget! Bring your mom, your sister, your best friend, and come! New England is beautiful in May!

Castle Cottage BYO Picnic-Basket Party!

Remember the BYO Picnic-Basket Party we had in Stourhead in England last September? We’re going to do it again!  Mark your calendars for May 11, 2018, at noon o’clock. Because, once again, you’re all invited! We’ll be meeting as many of our Girlfriends as possible, whoever can come, from everywhere! And because of serendipity and wild stretches of the imagination, this time we will be spreading our picnic blankets on the lawn across the meadow from Beatrix Potter’s Hill Top, in the garden of Castle Cottage, in Far Sawrey, in the Lake District, where Beatrix Potter lived for 30 years with her husband Willie Heelis! I’m not kidding!

We will walk where she walked and be where she was, and sit where she drank her tea, amongst the bluebells and frolicking lambs. And we want you all to join us. Joe will be there, and all your Fairy Tale Guys are invited too. And if you can’t come in person, then you will just have to join us virtually . . . I’ll take tons of photos, and post the whole thing on my Blog, and take you all along, on the ship, to England, to Ireland, and to the picnic too, tucked into our basket, but only if you promise not to eat all the stuffed eggs.

My girlfriends from the Beatrix Potter Society, American Betsy Bray, and English Mandy Marshall (who actually lives at Castle Cottage, and will be our hostess there) will be leading a luv-lee Lake District Tour next May that will culminate at the Picnic ~ it’s limited space and will be announced next month in Pottering About (the Beatrix Potter Society e-Newsletter), but you, my darlings, are the FIRST to know … leave your name on Betsy’s site for first-come-first-serve and learn more HERE . . .

Also, we’ve had several requests on my Blog to connect Girlfriends who want to come, but would like a kindred-spirit Traveling Partner ~ such a good idea! So, that’s exactly what we’re doing: Here’s how: 1.) Go to my Facebook Page (FOSB) and leave a comment that you are looking for a Traveling Partner for the BYO Picnic-Basket Party at Castle Cottage on May 11, 2018. 2.) Suggest that interested parties private-message you to connect. (Please don’t put your personal contact info on FOSB … your privacy is important.) 3.) Check your messages for contacts ~ and be sure to check your “other” messages, which are messages from people you are not Facebook friends with (yet). 4.) Watch for posts from other FOSB who are looking for a Traveling Companion. Don’t be shy, be brave, take a chance, be ready for adventure, make contact, private message them! Then get busy and make your reservations. Manchester airport is closest to the Lake District, but there are also trains from London. Okay, you are on your own from here! Hope to see you there. Us, from all over the world, converging on Castle Cottage, it’s BeaStock 2018! Here’s your name tag: Just print it out on card stock and bring it with you! Write your name Big!🎵 By the time we get to BeaStock we’ll be half-a-jillion strong . . . 🎶 We are stardust, we are golden and we’ve got to get back to the garden . . . 🎵

Book and Calendar Signings

My twenty-three-city book tour this May and June of 2016 is in celebration of, and with gratitude to, the small Independent Bookstores, their dedicated owners and hard working staffs, who’ve managed to hold on through the changing times, Independent Bookstoressupporting their local economies by providing jobs, assisting their local libraries, and giving us much needed charm wherever they are, windows filled with books, books that fly from ceilings, the smell of coffee and books, tables of books and paper and all the tangible real-life things we love. Without them, I, as an author would have never existed, because it’s those individual voices from bookstore employees who’ve said to their customers (who’s taste they make it their business to know), “Here, have you read this?” that have made all the difference. ♥ Please help me in supporting them with your business. Scroll down to check out the Coming Events for a store near you.  I’ll be signing all three books in this finally-finished trilogy, The Fairy Tale Girl, Martha’s Vineyard, Isle of Dreams (the newest), and A Fine Romance, Falling in Love with the English Countryside. Hope to see you there!

  8. Mary says:

Dear Susan, how I wish you had a book signing in Maine, preferably Kittery or Portland on a Saturday or Sunday!!!

  9. Dianne says:

In Meredith, you told me that you would be coming to Skaneateles, but I don’t see it listed. Do you know the date? I have to plan another trip for more signed copies. P.S. The book is simply beautiful- I took a little peek!!

    • sbranch says:

We are going to have to do it after we get back from our cross country trip and we haven’t set a date yet, although we’ve been in contact with the bookstore there and they are excited to do it! We’ll put the date up when we know it and in plenty of time for you to make plans. Thank you Dianne (with two “n’s”).

      • Dianne says:

That will be perfect, as school should be well enough under way by then that I will be able to take a “pleasure” break. By the way, while driving home from Meredith, I listened to the audio version of West With the Night. The night sky and Beryl Markham. I could almost imagine that I was flying over Africa.

      • Nettie says:

I am soooooo excited tht you are even thinking of coming to Skaneateles, New York it is 20 minutes from here and home to my six grannies!!! My girlfriend Debbie and I will be contacting the store to volunteer!

  10. Martha says:

Thank you so much for coming to our Bookstore! It was a wonderful event. It was such a pleasure to meet you and Joe. I hope you enjoyed your time in Meredith. You have amazing friends. We hope you continue to have a successful tour. The book is beautiful! Congratulations.

    • sbranch says:

Thank YOU Martha for having us. It was delightful meeting you all, and your little town is a bit of heaven. We had a wonderful time! xoxo

  11. Wow! I can’t even begin to say how absolutely ecstatic I am to see that you are working on the possibility of a signing at The Kings English! Whooohoooo!
    Thanks!
    <3
    Gabi

  12. Joanie from Portland says:

    Dear Susan,

How exciting to be on the road, test driving your new “Fine Romance” van and sharing your book with all of your girlfriends and guy friends. I hope it is everything you expected it to be and more! Love following along on your adventures. I have been wondering if your travels will lead you to the Pacific Northwest this time around? If not, I may have to do a little traveling myself! I was so surprised when I saw Goshen,In. on your itinerary as I was born and raised not far from there. Have lived in Oregon most of my adult life, however. Hope to see you this fall – somewhere, someplace! Thank you, Joanie

    • sbranch says:

We have run into an unexpected snag on the book signings — we’re out of books! Bookstores kind of like to have books at their signings, so now we are trying to figure out what to do — we’ll have more books by the end of October, that’s when the signings will resume after Kansas City, but we don’t yet know what we are doing next! I’ll be sure to post it when we do!

    • Marsha says:

Yes! We love books and Susan Branch in Portland! We want to meet Joe too!

  13. krista says:

Hi Susan: I’m loving AFR: it completely satisfies my travel and Anglophile needs. Will you by any chance be at Vroman’s in Pasadena, California? I am going to call them right now and inquire. The Madonna Inn for your November signing appears to be booked solid. And how exciting to get my FOGT newsletter yesterday and see that you will be the speaker at their mini-convention next June. Krista

    • sbranch says:

Yes! So excited about that. We do plan to be at Vromans, the end of October or first of November. Just need to set a date.

  14. Donna Cahill says:

Dear Susan, Will you be making any appearances in the New Jersey or Pennsylvania area. Would so love to meet you! Yours truly, Donna Cahill

  15. Laurie says:

Hoping you’ll get a chance to stop in Arizona sometime before you make it to CA. I live in Phoenix but will drive to Scottsdale or wherever you may be! Looking forward to it. Love, love, love your book!

  16. Jerri Ellen says:

After Vroman’s, head south to the Laguna Beach Bookstore…pretty please, with a cherry on top! I contacted them a while ago and the owner said “yes”. Ijust hope they followed up with your contact info I provided. I already have one of your 1st edition copies…so smart of me to order it from you months ago. I would just like to meet you and purchase some books for Christmas gifts. I have a “Petey”, too, and he wants to come meet you!!

Congrats on all of your success, Susan!

    Jerri Ellen
    San Juan Capistrano

  17. Kate Wyllie says:

Are there plans for you, in the future, to visit/signing at any Southern Bookstores? I live in Western North Carolina, two hours away from Asheville, NC but, I can drive the other way to Atlanta, GA, or surrounding areas, if there a Book signing in Georgia.
    With regards,
    Kate Wyllie

  18. Kathryn from CA says:

Hello, Susan! Love your book and am so hoping you will make it to a bookstore in or near San Francisco! Do you have any prospective plans to visit Northern California once more books are in? If not, I will just have to plan a trip south to Vroman’s. 🙂

  19. Janet says:

LOVE the book. My 3 sisters and I have had our own romance with England and Scotland since early childhood! We visited both countries going and coming when we went to live overseas. Then, all grown up, Sister married for 10 years with 2 children – she and I made a “pilgrimage” of THREE weeks to England. I don’t think we will ever Get Over It! If you can wrangle a book signing in the Seattle area, then I can easily provide some kitty-time for you with my tortoiseshell calico with freckled nose. Even some sandy-beach time, too.

  20. LindaH (northern IN) says:

    Hello Susan,
Just read your latest blog post, and loved it! I’m glad that you’re having such a wonderful time on your book signing tour. I had commented earlier when I saw your Grand Rapids, MI, event, but now I’m happy again to see that you’ll be even closer to me–at your signing in Goshen, IN. The South Side Soda Shop in Goshen is a fun dining venue with delicious food if you have the chance to visit. Shipshewana, IN is an adorable town with cute shops in Amish country. The Univ of Notre Dame grounds are beautiful for walking through, and the Basilica and Main Building are gorgeous.
Looking forward to seeing you in Goshen!

    Linda

  21. I know your Dad lives in Carefree, Susan, so I just assumed that you would have a book signing here in Arizona somewhere. Have I missed an even listing somehow?
I am so afraid I will miss it, since I am having surgery on September 17th. If I do, of course I wish you all the health, good will and safety on the road. A wish for success would be silly, haha! Love you, Judy

    • Paula says:

I hope your sugery goes well, Judy. Love, Paula Johnson

    • Jack says:

Judy — I’m actually in Cottonwood, a bit North of Carefree ….. and even though Sue has been invited to do book signings here in Arizona –she can’t do them because she sold out of her entire first printing …. whoosh, just like that!
She will get more in a few weeks and set up a new signing tour on her way home in her snazzy bookmobile .

  22. Jenny says:

No stops in Utah!? What happened with The Kings English? Anyways, enjoy your trip and all the girlfriends you will meet!

  23. Tammy Muscarella says:

Haslam’s Book Store in St. Petersburg, FL is considered to be a Tampa Bay treasure! It has been around since 1933, is family owned, and regularly hosts author signings. It’s old and BIG…it takes up a whole city block I think:) It is FILLED with new and used books including treasured collectables! It has several different rooms and it’s really easy to loose yourself in the wonder of it all! I use to take my kids there for story times when they were little….now nearly grown, they ask me to go with them on rainy summer days. You should put this spot on your book signing tour! If you need me to go to the book store on your behalf….I will gladly do so:) It would be a real treasure to have you here in St. Petersburg.
You can check out their website at haslams.com.

Also, my sister-in-law owns Black Hills Books & Treasures in Hot Springs, South Dakota. She has the cutest cat, Wyatt, who lives at the store:) The shop is situated on the little Main Street of town. It features southwestern books and art but she and her husband are book collectors and have a varied selection. She hosts many book signing events too. If you wanted to go through there on your way to California the Black Hills would be a great stop! So many of our nations natural treasures are tucked all in and around there. Although I live in Florida I would certainly make the trip out there if you were to put Black Hills Books & Treasures on your book signing tour:)
You can find them on the web too!

I sure hope I get to catch up with you some where! 🙂
    Happy Road Trip Adventure!

  24. Rosemary says:

I must lobby for a signing in Texas….preferably North Texas but do not know of any charming, independent bookstores. After Christmas sounds like more of a possibility. What an undertaking getting to all the places we want you to be. Be safe in your Branchmobile…What an amazing lady you are! I LOVE my book(s). Remarkable in every way. The best. Thank you.

  25. Mary Ann says:

I LOVE the new book, A Fine Romance. I am only allowing myself to read a few pages a day because I want it to last. I know I can always reread it, but the first tie through is the best. I feel like I was with you on the trip. Your descriptions are yummy. 🙂 Thanks for sharing with all of us.

  26. Laure says:

omygosh, I love that you added a nametag for our guyfriends! #iheartsusanbranch #iheartengland #iheart!

  27. kimj says:

    come to Newburyport, MA!!!

  28. Sherry Moran says:

I’m loving the book! So glad I pre-ordered, as I would be so disappointed since you’ve run out for now. Love your blog and posts, but haven’t gotten any Willards since my first one. Maybe I’ve done something wrong.

Wish you could come to the Dallas, TX., region for a signing – I would so be there!

My husband and I visited MV last Sept. and rented a Mini-Cooper convertible and drove all over the island – such fun! Unfortunately, I missed your house.

  29. Dorothy Dautel says:

What about Utah? Any chance we may see you here in the near future for a book signing? I loved “A Fine Romance”!! I ordered 3 copies from Amazon and kept one for myself and the other 2 are Christmas gifts for two dear friends who are also Anglophiles. We have traveled in England and love it so much. Also- add “Mrs. Palfrey at the Claremont” by Elizabeth Taylor to your book and movie list. Beautiful writer. Also- Anne Morrow Lindbergh lived in England and Europe for years and her Diaries and Letters are very descriptive and loving about England. To me, when one has found someone who loves the same books, I feel we are cut from the same cloth and are relatives by page, if not by blood! Blessings and much love to you and your Joe!!!

  30. Mary says:

I thought I saw a tentative date at the Boulder Bookstore for your book tour–are you still planning on stopping in Colorado? We also have a wonderful independent bookstore called The Tattered Cover which has 3 Denver locations, it would be great if you could make it out here! 🙂

  31. Ella Cousineau says:

I am looking forward to meeting you tomorrow!! You’re book is simply beautiful! Thank you for adding your little “mark” on this world, so that we may all enjoy it! 🙂

  32. Susan b.nelson says:

    Dearest Susan,
I’m the lady who waited till almost last to have you sign the copy of ” A fine romance” and was donating it to the library in Hudson after I have read it and anyone else in my home(especially my England born husband who’s mum is English.).
My regret; not buying a copy for myself(financially I could only really buy one copy and promised it to Hudson Library).
You are such an inspiration in the book, and I now understand all that my mum-in law grew up around(her town,New Balderton on the Trent in Northern England)…beautiful!!
    with blessings,susan b. ausel-nelson

    • sbranch says:

Oh Susan, how kind you are to write back and tell me. Thank you so much. I love that this copy of the book will already get lots of use before it goes to the Library … and knowing it will be in a library for anyone to read makes me so happy.

  33. Pat Renaud says:

It was a pleasure to meet you tonight. I will always be appreciative to you for continuing to be so inspiring to my daughter Sue. You made tonight a special one and one we will always remember doing together as Mother and Daughter. Please give Joe our thanks too as he has such an important part in your life and story.

  34. Sara McKeefer says:

What a treat to meet you today, Susan! You are, indeed, a kindred spirit. Linda, Sharmin and I loved every minute at Better World Books! You and Joe were so gracious with your interest in everyone, as you chatted with all of your ‘friends’ from Indiana and at least one from Illinois. The three of us used your book signing to meet up for the first time since we all rode the school bus together 50 years ago! Blessings to you two and Petey, as you work your way west to your own reunion with old friends.  -Sara-

  35. Tamara Leavins says:

Google Seaside, FL (Truman Show fame) and Sundog Books. I’ve been corresponding with them in hopes of a book signing. I can’t imagine a more perfect place to have one. We want y’all in the FL panhandle sooooo bad!!!
    Hugs,
    Tamara

  36. debra barrow says:

Sorry I missed your book signing in Grand Rapids…..would have loved to have been there to say thanks for a wonderful book. England is the one place I have visited that I loved and dearly want to go back to. Your book let me take a little trip over the pond from my own living room curled up with my kitties and a cup of tea.

  37. Lynn Marie says:

I met you at Better World Books in Goshen, IN. I don’t know if you remember, but Vanessa the naughty Cardigan Corgi had chewed the corner of my book because I had spent so much time pouring over “it” and not “her”! I just want to thank you for making this incredibly long road trip so that we all have a chance to meet you. You are an inspiration to us all, you know.
So glad I made the trip to meet you. Have a wonderful time on the road!

    • sbranch says:

I promised myself, when I finished this book I was going to go out and meet everyone! It’s just what I’d hoped for. Of course I remember your Vanessa-chewed one-of-a-kind book Lynn! Thank you for coming to see me!

  38. Nellie says:

Hi, Susan! Still hoping that return trip will bring you somewhere near me for a book signing. I will be watching this Events page for the latest! This looks like such fun! I’d love to be a “groupie!”:-)

    xo Nellie

  39. Carol says:

Are you planning a book signing for A Fine Romance for Daytona Beach,Florida?
    Carol

  40. Carole Beth Rhodes says:

I have been reading you may show up in the south. Please, please!! I live in Nashville TN so I will be keeping my eye on your book signings. Continued success in your journey and safe travels. Love ya, girlfriend …

  41. Pamela Santacroce says:

Please, oh pretty please, come to Pennsylvania! Hershey/lancaster area. You have a large following here. Love all of your books. Congratulations on your success!

  42. KATHY SCOTT says:

MY BEST FRIEND AND I ATTENDED YOUR BOOK SIGNING IN GRAND RAPIDS, MI. WHAT A THRILL IT WAS TO MEET YOU AND JOE. AS YOU SAID IT IS LIKE CATCHING UP WITH ONE OF YOUR GIRLFRIENDS. I HAVE AND LOVE ALLLLLL OF YOUR BOOKS. A FINE ROMANCE IS THE FROSITNG ON THE CAKE – WHICH I DO NOT WANT TO END. LOOKING FORWARD TO THE “PANCAKE” BREAKFAST BOOK. THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE SUSAN BRANCH STORIES. ENJOY THE REST OF YOUR TRIP! WHAT FUN. KATHY SCOTT

  43. Cheryl Johannes says:

Sooooo looking forward to meeting you at the Remnants of the Past show in SLO, Nov. 9 and 10. We will have a booth inside; do stop by and see our wonderful vintage treasures from France!

    Cheers…..Casual Cottage Chic

  44. CarolK says:

When heading South, can a book signing in NJ be squeezed in too? There’s a nice bookstore in the quaint village of Clinton that holds a lot of book signings. They are right off the Rt78 E-W corridor. How do I make that happen? Do I tell the store to contact you or do you contact them?

  45. Toni says:

Hi Susan…loved meeting you in Goshen(the LA dress…remember?)Just reading about all of ‘our’ girlfriends invitations and ideas for your booksignings. Don’t you feel pulled in so many directions at once? It must be nice to be SOOO wanted…:-))) I think your brief ‘time off’ with no books was meant to be so you can have more time to visit your Mom and Dad and just RELAX before you hit the road again. I’m sure this will be a time to ‘kick-back’ and take many DEEP breaths and enjoy the beautiful surroundings…wherever you are. Godspeed to you both…we’re praying for a safe trip and many smiling faces as you roll across this beautiful country…THE BEST PLACE ON EARTH:-)))

    • sbranch says:

Of course I remember you and your darling dress! I agree, being out of books means extra time for good visits! You would love the view outside our van windows right now, rolling fields of corn and tidy barns under the bluest sky.

  46. Jack says:

You simply tell them they are totally naked , as they sit there …….

  47. Mary L. says:

I loved the Tea Party book signing at Westmoreland Country Club in Wilmette, Illinois. You are a WONDERFUL speaker. No one would know how scared you get except you tell everyone how scared you get! I loved the story about how you met the Beatles. Now I’m going to get out your older books and read them all again, right after I finish A Fine Romance.

  48. Judy in Oregon says:

Give me driving on the wrong side of the road any day. I have found that to be easy compared to getting up and talking in front of a group of people. It literally makes me shake and unfortunately there are times that you just can’t get out of doing it. I hope as your trip goes on it does get easier for you.

    • sbranch says:

Yes, oh yes, of the two, I would choose the former. But the good news is that each of these TV segments lasts from 1 to 3 minutes. I’ve can do anything for 3 minutes! Knock on wood and fingers crossed.

  49. KarenP (Wisconsin) says:

We would never in a million years know that it’s difficult for you to speak in front of people! You are so warm and relatable and share from your heart. You draw us into your world and that is what makes us all feel so closely linked to you! And we are all “over-the-moon” excited to see you in person! Thanks again for this magical book and even more special the gift of these book signings! xo

  50. Vicky T says:

Oh Susan, I’m a bad girlfriend…I was so busy this summer I wasn’t following your blog. I live 20 minutes from GRAND RAPIDS MICHIGAN and missed your book signing! O M G! I found out 2 DAYS after the fact. UGH! (kick self in pants)
I did however get a autographed copy but little consolation for missing you! 🙁
BUT I’m enjoying your book immensely (only wish it was a lot longer) and you have only made me more determined to pursue my dream of going to England. Thank you so much for your most delightful, wonderful, gem of a book!
    You are an inspiration!
    xo

  51. Jack says:

EVENTS at side-bar needs to be bracketed – like “New Products ” so it can stand out better
——Events , is getting lost in all the other eye candy , there with it !

  52. Pam Shaeffer says:

    Dear Susan,

I feel so bad that I missed your book signing yesterday at Prairie Lights here in Iowa City. I’m a recent California transplant. Would have loved to have met you. We have much in common (i.e. born the same year and also from So. California)! You went East and I went north to San Francisco when younger. Reading your cookbooks (purchased the first one “Heart of the Home” in Vermont 20 years ago!) brings back my youth and the wonderful cooking of my Middle Western and Southern relatives! Did your Mother make S.O.S.? One of my husband’s favorites! Enjoy the rest of your adventure, and I’m hoping to secure one your new books at P. Lights. All the best to you and Joe! With all sincerity, Pam

    • sbranch says:

Is SOS chipped beef on toast? Not sure, but if so, yes she sure did and I love it too. I’m so sorry to miss you Pam! One of these days . . .

      • Jack says:

In WWII , SOS was made with flour and water mixed to a semi thick paste then with well done ,fried hamburger bits mixed in , on toast –that way you couldn’t see the weevils that was in the flour ….

      • Pam Shaeffer says:

        Hi again!

Yes, S.O.S. is chipped beef on toast. It wouldn’t be polite to say what the S.O.S. means. I think this originated in the Navy. My mom also made a version with tuna.

You’ll have to come back to Iowa City to try the Hamburg Inn (famous for visiting politicos) or the Bluebird Cafe! Iowa City is an awesome town for good eats and good reads!

Have a fun time in Arizona visiting your Dad and on the West Coast with your Mother and friends!

For another good book to read, I recommend David McCullough’s The Greater Journey, Americans in Paris!

All the best to you and Joe,

  53. Barbara Flannery says:

Susan – I just had to tell you how very much I am enjoying reading my copy of your book, A Fine Romance. I followed you on your blog of your whole trip, so I do know all you did and saw on your wonderful trip. However, this book is so very special and I am enjoying each and every page. Thank you for your very special talent and all that you do. Barbara

  54. Nancy Kloppenborg says:

Susan, crazy good that you decided to sign books and meet us at Prairie Lights in Iowa City. I must tell you that meeting you has been one of the most memorable moments in my life. One of those “golden moments” that I’ll treasure forever. God bless you, Susan Branch, and Joe too!

  55. Cathy from Golden Co says:

Oh my gosh – you got to visit a Green Room! So exciting! I love, love, love that picture of you & Dawn! How excited everyone looks. I can see pure happiness on everyone’s faces. I’m excited for all of you. I took a picture of our book atop Pikes Peak!

  56. Kristy Henderson says:

    Susan,

How funny – I was reading in your blog about Rainy Days Books. I just drove by that in KC last weekend (and it was raining!). I have thought before that I need to stop in sometime. It looks like a unique little shop. Maybe next month when I will be going back with girlfriends – and we all read :-).

I’m so happy that Watermark Books got the word out about your visit to Wichita. Very exciting since I already have my pre-ordered copy of your new book. Looking forward to seeing you tonight – Watermark is always a treat. Welcome to Wichita!!

  57. Saundra Nelson says:

Susan Ann….Have pictures for you. Please contact me with address.

  58. Trish Corbett says:

Susan, it was great to meet you a second time while in Michigan. I had a fabulous weekend away (from TN) and the book signing was the highlight along with two trips to Lake Michigan for their wonderful beaches (and the people were so friendly). After I left the book signing at Schuler’s, I headed to Grand Haven, and stopped at a little antique shop on the way. Guess what I found? A complete set of the Beatrice Potter figurines! I so wanted Mr. Fox, but it was not in my budget. They were so cute in the case waiting for someone to take them home. Have a blessed trip as you continue west?

    • sbranch says:

Good for you Trish … I found some in an antique store too, bringing them to Kellee for the web store! It’s gorgeous up in that neck of the woods!

  59. Bonnie says:

Susan, What a pleasure to meet you at Rainy Days Books. Wasn’t sure I was going to be able to, as we had just gotten back from a CO vacation, and my sweetheart was not feeling well. (Migraines) Not only did I make it, but he came with me! I know you think Joe is the best, but I think I have the best hubby in the world! Have fun at Strawberry Patches in Bakersfield. An awesome, awesome, fabric store!!! One of my haunts when I lived in Bkrsfld with my first best hubby, Jimbo, for 23 years. Travel safe!!! Bonnie

    • sbranch says:

Have that you made it Bonnie! And that your guy was up to it too. It was such a nice evening .. the people who own that bookstore, Vivien and Roger, made everyone feel so welcome.

  60. Vicki in Cincy says:

Oh Susan! I am SO happy for you! Gosh what a wonderful adventure you and Joe are on and the surprises and joy just keep on coming. You really deserve this sweetie, you just bring us so much joy. You are now on the receiving end of all of the happiness you bring us all! Have a continued safe trip and enjoy your time with your dad. xoxo

    • sbranch says:

And finding out how much harder it is to receive than to give. I get overwhelmed at the niceness of everyone I’m meeting! I’m trying to learn to take a deep breath, sit back, and bask. It’s been a pure joy. So glad we did this.

  61. Julie (Omaha) says:

    Hi Susan!
Just wanted to add to all the other wonderful comments and say it was such a
pleasure to meet you and Joe at the Watermark! I also met some new girlfriends that night (shout out to Sandy, Sharon, Suzanne 🙂 ) We’re going to stay in touch – yes and go out for that glass of wine! I saw the charms and had to order both because they will always be a reminder of one fun night in a little bookstore in Wichita Kansas with girlfriends!!
Safe travels, relax and enjoy your well-deserved time with family and friends. Thank you again!! Julie (Omaha)!

(i was so anxious to meet you finally when it got to my turn to actually have you sign my book, i said i had something for than walked right out the door wearing it …agh!
If i mail it to Susan Branch, Martha’s Vineyard it would get to you wouldn’t it??)

  62. Marlene says:

Hello, I found the last copy at B&N within 100 miles of home. My kind husband, Jim, went to pick it up. It is a gift for my wonderful sister-in-law, Laurel, for her birthday. I know she will love it immensely as we do all your books. I hope another book signing in Michigan will happen on your return trip. Then Laurel and I could take a road trip to meet you. I can hardly wait to buy my own copy when the Second Edition is released. My sister met you once in Massachusetts and gave me a calendar which you autographed on my birthdate..THANK YOU! In the meantime, have a fun, relaxing memorable visit with your family members. God Bless.

  63. Sara McKeefer says:

Dear Susan, I just can’t seem to keep my nose out of A Fine Romance! Only this time I’m savoring it slowly like a fine wine instead of gulping it down like a parched-to-the-bone mad woman who finally found her oasis! Okay, so that’s a little dramatic, but it sure was fun writing that sentence, plus it IS more truth than fiction.
I decided to wait to read AFR the second time when my friend, Jacquie, received hers in the mail for her birthday. That way we could ‘read it together’ even though I’m here in Syracuse, Indiana, and she’s there on top of Doe Mtn. in Dahlonega, Georgia. Jacquie, who’s crossing the pond next summer just like you did, said she really appreciated all the QM2 info (I’m pretty sure she’s making a list and will be checking it twice!).
Jacquie and her Mike had pretty much the same experience you and Joe had the first time you drove ‘inside out and backwards’… incidentally, they’re taking the trains this time! (Your account is absolutely hilarious!)
I just ordered the two beautiful glass charms and can hardly wait to order the Fine Romance one, and this by a girlfriend who hasn’t worn her charm bracelet since high school! You do make an impression! After all, it’s not every day that this 67-year-old Nana offers herself up for adoption!

  64. Jane Armour says:

You may not know it yet, but you NEED to come to Ga. Preferably Columbus,Ga. If you have to have a large city, Atlanta is just 100 miles north of us. Thanks!

    Jane

  65. Sandy Fox says:

    Dear Susan and Joe,
Thank you so much for stopping in Wichita at Watermark Books! We loved seeing you again! The one thing I didn’t say to you and have before, but THANK YOU SO MUCH for writing such kind words and thoughts! You brighten many people’s day, including mine! I know being on the road is very hard work and very tiring! Buy that RV Joe for Susan and you can take your kitties with you! (We did!). We pray for safe travel on your trip and many stops! Come back to Wichita and see us soon!
    Thanks again, it was GREAT!

  66. Anne in NH says:

Susan….following you and Joe on the blogs…missed you in NH,(I live just outside of Portsmouth in Greenland) but I see you may go to Skaneateles, NY and my oldest son and his wife and kids live there, so I will be sure to have Sharon come to meet you…the book is SO wonderful and I savor every moment of reading and re-reading it! Enjoy the time with your parents and each other…safe journey to you both!

  67. Sylvia Gash says:

I was born in Mobile, AL so I am a real Southern Girl. Mobile is a large city that you could go to for us GRITS! (Girls Raised In The South)! I have live in Fort Walton Beach Fl for 30 years. So it is home. Pease come here. It is beautiful here you would love it! We are known as the Emerald Coast because the water is an emerald-tourquise color and our sand is sugar white! It looks like snow! You would lose your breath going over the Destin Bridge! The view of the harbor, the boats, and the jetties is beautiful! I love you, the website and your products for sale. Please come to Mobile or Fort Walton Beach, FL, (they are 100 miles apart.) You could visit one and have a mini vacation at the other.

  68. karen says:

    No Connecticut 🙁

  69. cindy berry says:

Hi Susan. Thrilled to see that you may possibly go to Fairhope Alabama…..that is only 3 hours away and so much closer then I ever thought you would be!!!!!! I will keep my fingers crossed.

  70. Anita in Colorado says:

Dear Susan, Pleeesssseee tell me you are stopping in Colorado! and please be sure, it is within driving distance of my beloved Boulder County, along the gorgeous Front Range of the Rockies! I mean, you couldn’t possibly make stops in KANSAS and then overlook us, could you???? It has been a tough year in many regards (you’ve probably seen photos of us on the news–the flood of Biblical proportions), and SEEING YOU in person would be more than heart could wish! Please say you are coming after you restock books! And by the way, the Girlfriends could have TOLD your publisher right up front that the first order should be BIG, very very BIG! You are loved, Susan! so, in case you don’t have Colorado in your plan already (Heaven forbid!), please please make arrangements with the Tattered Cover Bookstore in Denver, the largest privately owned bookstore in the USA! If not there, how about one of the Boulder bookstores, or even Loveland, CO? I live in Longmont, but unfortunately, we no longer have any fabulous bookstores. I am keeping my fingers crossed for a Colorado Signing! Please let me know, Susan! Your ardent admirer, Anita B

    • sbranch says:

We had planned to be in Boulder this week, but we ran out of books in Kansas! So we are stopped for the signings for now. We’re on our way to California, but the problem is that the possibility of snow will be lurking on our way home in the middle of November, so we’ve planned to go south to avoid it. It’s not how it was supposed to be, but it seems to be how it is. We LOVE Colorado! ;-(

      • Anita Birt says:

I do understand, Susan, but it still makes me sad. Colorado NEEDS you! Please keep us in mind for a future trip and once it is scheduled, please SHOUT it from the rooftops, so I don’t miss out! Safe, wonderful, enjoyable travels to you and Joe and many blessings to come as you meet the Girlfriends!

  71. dewena says:

Dear Susan, Just read that your tea and tins will be out soon. I can’t wait to order them and one of your Emma Bridgewater cups to drink it in!! I think I will reread your book again while drinking my tea and totally be in heaven. Enjoying your blog on the tour and all your photo’s. You and Joe take care and enjoy your family and friends. Thank you for sharing and all your hard work.

    • sbranch says:

Thank YOU Dewena … I think the book is going to be very fun when the cold weather comes and we are inside. A bit of English transportation!

  72. Jerri Ellen says:

    Hello Susan,

Please don’t forget your girlfriends in Orange County, CA! Vroman’s is a wonderful bookstore, but a bit too far to drive from San Juan Capistrano. Laguna Beach Bookstore said they were inviting you….I requested a long time ago. Hope you can swing south to see us.
    Fingers crossed,
    Jerri Ellen

    • sbranch says:

Because we ran out of books and won’t get them in until the end of October and must leave CA by November 12 in order to get back before the roads ice up, we are having to cut our book-signings much shorter than we wanted. It’s terrible, and we didn’t expect it, but we’re learning to live with it. I’m sorry, just not sure we have enough days to get all the places we had planned. We go from Pasadena to Bakersfield!

  73. Janice says:

I have emailed the Northshire Bookstore in Saratoga Springs, NY and told them they HAVE to contact you! They just opened a few weeks ago. I’ve got my fingers crossed that they will email you and insist they need you to stop in for a reading and a signing sometime soon.

  74. Judy Hubbard says:

I live in Scottsdale, Arizona & can’t believe you are here in AZ! Any chance you could do an event in Cottonwood while you are there? You could promote your books & cookbooks since you are out of the new one. I’d love to come up there to have a chance to meet you! I am sure you have lots of fans in AZ.
    Enjoy our weather!

    • sbranch says:

We’re actually leaving this morning. Just not enough time to get anything organized, plus as you can imagine, I wanted to hang out at my dads most of the time!

  75. Jen from Sebastopol says:

I have enjoyed your road trip and the pictures of smiling faces at your events. I love the van! I appreciate that you and Joe bring us along on your trips and the love that you give to your fans. Thank you.

  76. Veona Roberson says:

Just read that you will be in Pasadena, CA November 5th, and hope to come & visit you there. My daughter sent me your book “A Fine Romance and the English Countryside” for my birthday in August which she ordered before your 1st edition was printed. I loved it and have passed it on to my friend…we related to it as we took a similar itinary and would love to go back! We have also enjoyed the recipes (Hot Milk Cake is delicious).

  77. Dena says:

im a regular follower of your blog and got all your books, Any thoughts about coming to metairie, louisiana. which is just so outside of New Orleans, La OR new orleans ? Or any place close here. My husband works at a major hotel on canal st , in new orleans, maybe we could hook you up there.
I loved your lavender cake, i tried it the day you put it on your blog, I happen to see the lavender at store that day , so it was a calling.

  78. Jan Hammond says:

We want to meet you, Susan, and give you our praise for A FINE ROMANCE first hand. We can come to see you at the Tattered Cover bookstore in Denver. We can drive to Albuquerque or Sante Fe or Cheyenne—hope you’ll be able to come to Colorado, New Mexico or Wyoming! I read your whole book while we were camping in the Rockies and my husband was fly fishing the Frying Pan River. I just loved reading it and now I’m reading parts over and over again and enjoying your drawings and pictures over and over again. We all just love you!
    Your ardent fan, Jan Hammond

    • sbranch says:

Albuquerque is the place then, because we’ll be there. I’m not sure of the date, will have to check, but it’s around November 18th or so. Hopefully you can make it Jan! Otherwise, I think it will be snowing up north and we’re doing our best to save the snow for when we are safely home and tucked into our own beds on Martha’s Vineyard.

  79. Rosemary says:

    Come to Houston 🙂

  80. Tamara Leavins says:

I just found the video of your interview on Fox4 before your Rainy Day book signing. I was smiling as I watched you answering questions and talking about your book. I was thinking to myself, “This girl doesn’t have any idea how fortunate she is to be talking to THE Susan Branch.” I keep checking to see if you will be at Page & Palette in Fairhope, AL. I had also posted a comment about Sundog Books in Seaside FL, which is the most charming little shop. I love everything you do. I may need an intervention!

  81. Christa says:

    Hi Susan,
Any chance you will do a book signing in Northern California?
    I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
I love your books and have almost all of them. My favorite book
now is A FINE ROMANCE, I’ve read it twice…
    LOL, Christa

    • sbranch says:

Thank you so much Christa. Running out of books cut back on the time we would have in California for traveling and doing signings. Unfortunately. Books will be coming in soon, and we have signings here on the Central Coast, in Bakersfield and at Vroman’s in Pasadena, but nothing up north. I’d love to get there, but without knowing exactly when books were coming we couldn’t really make a plan until later . . . and then soon we must go back east, before the snow comes to get us!

  82. Silva Abramian says:

    Hi Susan,
I am a room mom for my daughter’s 4th grade class here in Los Angeles and there is a field trip to the mission in San Juan Capistrano the exact same day as your Pasadena book signing. What are the chances? So I am trying to make arrangements to take a family trip to San Luis Obispo for your other book signing. Planning on visiting Hearst Castle too that same weekend. Which hotel do you recommend we stay at? The Madonna Inn? I will have my husband and two daughters with me (4 and 9 years old). Would they have fun at the show and sale or should they explore the area instead and Mommy can have a fun time on her own? 🙂 I am really looking forward to meeting you. I have every single one of your books, cook books and scrapbook albums and have turned one of my close friends onto you too and she bought me the last of the first editions of A Fine Romance. Thank you for any advice you can give me. Thanks, Silva

    • sbranch says:

Hi Silva, go to Remnants of the Past (the people putting on the show) for links to local nearby hotels. The Madonna Inn is perfect because it’s right there, but you have lots of choices including the beach. I think you would have more fun if the kids went to the Avila Barn or somewhere like that. The Remnants Show is lively and colorful, but I think little people would get bored pretty soon. FYI, my booth and me will only be there for one day, Sunday. I will only be there between 1 and 3 that day, just so you know, would not want to miss you. You might tuck that close friend into the car with you! 🙂 See you there!

      • Silva Abramian says:

Thanks so much for your response Susan. I really appreciate it. I will look at some hotels by the beach as well since we will be staying the night and driving back to LA on Monday. And I think you are right that I will have more fun if the kids and the husband, for that matter, went somewhere else. 🙂 I will look into Avila Barn. Thanks for the tip. And I know you will only be there on Sunday from 1-3 PM. I have planned my entire four day weekend around Sunday and those times so I will definitely not miss you. 🙂 I wish I could tuck that close friend in the car with me but she lives in Italy. She was in Hawaii for 2 years or so and then Germany before that for many years. Her and her husband work for the US government so they move around every few years. You would really love the story of our friendship. We have never actually met in person. We found each other on a Suzy’s Zoo message board almost a decade ago and have been nurturing our friendship ever since. We email, send lots of snail mail, talk on the phone and keep in touch via facebook as well. We send each other Christmas and birthday gifts every year and it is always a very fun pandora’s box of wonderful gifts and treasures. Your products have made their way into those gift boxes many times the past two years. She instantly fell in love with you and your line as I knew she would since we have very similar tastes. So when she tracked down copies of the first edition printing of your book A Fine Romance after I told her how bummed I was that I missed out on it, she automatically bought me one too. She knows I would have done the same for her. We are just destined to meet one day. In the meantime, I live vicariously through her wonderful travel adventures in Europe. And you can bet there will be some Susan Branch items in her Christmas gift in a few months. I would not be surprised if we both sent each other your new ornament. 🙂 Can’t wait to finally meet you! And I promise I will not come with my Susan Branch collection of items to sign. It could take you all day. 🙂 Speaking of items, is there a limit? 🙂 Fondly, Silva

        • sbranch says:

No limit, but revolts amongst the people waiting in line are not entirely unknown! :-)See you there Silva!

          • Silva says:

Haha. That is funny. Yes, I can imagine someone standing behind me would be rather annoyed if I had a lot of items. I will try to stick with just a few then. It will be tough to choose though. I suppose I can always save some for future book signings. 🙂

          • sbranch says:

Bring the all, and just be the last in line! 🙂

  83. Jennifer Brennan says:

    Hi Susan,
Any chance will you have any book signing dates this year or next in NJ/NYC/Philly areas? Would love to see you again.

    • sbranch says:

Yes, we want to do that, and the best part is how close that part of the world is to where we live. We just need to get home and reconnoiter so we can figure out what to do next!

  84. joann says:

    Hello Susan,

I’m still so anxiously waiting to hear if you’re coming to Colorado…………..

    xoxo

    Joann

    • sbranch says:

Not this time Joann — I think the snow and mountains might be a bit much for our big fat van! We’re heading home more down south then catty corner up to New England …

  85. Sally says:

I am loving every page of “A Fine Romance”! I’ve been cuddled up in bed reading it, interspersed with trips to the living room to view on-line bits, all day today. This is the absolute BEST way to spend a chilly Sunday in New York City, with radiators clanking out heat, a steaming cup of tea stationed on the end table, and your lovely, lovely diary of your trip to England on the lap. (So, I’ll get to it . . . will you be making a stop in Manhattan on your book tour? If so, please, please, please let me know.)

As an aside, my mother held a tea party earlier in the year and we gifted our guests with “swag bags” that included, among other things, your pencils and notepads. Great hit, these were! Thank you for the many ways you make us all smile.

    • sbranch says:

Hello Sally in beautiful New York City — so nice to see you here. Thank you for the lovely visual presented with the “radiators clanking and steaming cup . . ” We hope to get to New York one of these days … do you have a favorite bookstore?

  86. Jean Gage says:

Would it be alright if I printed off a copy of the picture of you and I with the 7 recipe books you signed for my grandchildren?:)

  87. Rhonda P. in Woodson, TX says:

Just checking the “Events” page for updates…I hope Joe will post pictures of your California book signings. It is so much fun to follow your progress! I am still hoping for a stop somewhere in Texas on your way back, but it’s a really big state…we’ll be watching!

  88. Joan Lesmeister says:

So sad my dear, my 3 GFs & I won’t be going to SLO to meet you! Sniff, sniff. This would have been my 2nd try (1st was 2 yrs ago, SLO quilt guild)! But, from what I understand, 3rd time’s a charm, just don’t know when, don’t know where! Have a wonderful time, & we’ll be looking forward to seeing the pictures & hearing all about the Remnants of the Past show & your visit! More sniffs! xoxoxo

  89. Joan Lesmeister says:

Strawberry Patches needs to go on my GF field trip list! What a wonderful store, creative people, darling Mini Jack, yummy cookies, great crowd of GFs, & dear sweeties Sue & Joe! My Ruby Red Rav4 kept wanting to head South, every time I got in her……I had to hang on tight to the steering wheel, & focus on being a responsible adult….arrrrgggghhhhh!!!! xoxoxo

    • sbranch says:

LOL! But you should give that car its head one of these days because the store is pure delight, and the people are darling too. You’d love it Joanie!

      • Joan Lesmeister says:

She is a red head, aren’t they supposed to have special powers!!! You’ve really been to some wonderful places this trip & met such fantastic people. My heart luuuvs knowing there are so many SB fans drawn to you because of your beautiful outlook on life (even though “some days are diamonds & some days are stones”), kindness, talents, tenderness, sense of humor, – all the good stuff from God (includes Joe & kitties)!! xoxo

        • sbranch says:

All the good stuff from God, and these days, I have to say, my cup runneth over. Almost feel bad for feeling so lucky! Not really, but actually, yes…it’s overwhelming. I do feel like we are very special little club. Our Girlfriends. How lucky!!!

  90. Sherry K says:

I am thrilled that you are coming to Full Circle Bookstore in OKC! It’s just 90 minutes away from Tulsa where I live, so I will be there (maybe with bells on!) I can’t wait! Thank you, thank you, thank you for including Oklahoma in your book tour! xoxoxo

  91. Vita Avanesian says:

I am so looking forward to seeing you in SLO Nov 10th! I came by the Vroman signing in Pasadena and got two calendars. There were so many people there! I was in the back and could not stay, I heard you were there three hours! and then had to sign more books for the store! I mentioned to Joe that The Rose Tree Cottage is a wonderful place in Pasadena for a British tea, I don’t know if you had a chance to see it, but I thought you would be interested in it. Good luck with everything,
I know you must be getting exhausted!

    • sbranch says:

It’s been such a treat. I promised myself I would do this when I got the book done, go out and meet as many of our Girlfriends as possible, and it’s been everything I hoped it would be. Not only me meeting them, but them meeting each other! For better or for worse, I’m one of those who takes my time at a signing, which is good for the person in the front of the line, but not great for the folks at the end, until they get to the front of the line!

  92. Janet in Rochester says:

OMG, that little felted Jack !!! Just the Best Thing Ever. Too cute for color TV, as Claree says in “Steel Magnolias.” Even the expression on his face is spot-on! He’ll be your good luck & safety mascot for going home in the “Fine Romance” van. SO makes me wish I had felted “versions” of all my now-long-gone pets. Something soft & pettable, to remember them by.

  93. Silvia Niomi says:

    Hi Susan,
Thank you for a wonderful experience on Sunday, Nov 10. I didn’t think I was going to make it to Remnants Of The Past. It was pretty much touch-and-go whether we were going to make it. It just seemed like nothing was working out, all the while thinking ‘boy, it sure would be fun to meet Susan and Joe and be able see all the other creative work at the event. Suddenly, it all came together and in a world wind speed run (one day to be exact) we made the long, long trek to SLO. We have never been to that part of CA, it was worth it. This next year, will mark my 5 decade journey…. and on my birthday, on my calendar will be your autograph which will be the extra sparkle that I’m sure I will need to get me past this birthday milestone. And I will also remember your’s and Joe’s comments, ‘It’s not bad at all (being 50), not bad at all.’ Thank you so very much for creating the artwork you do.
P.S. I met some very fun girlfriends while in line for the book signing and meeting your girls in the booth was fun too. And how can I forget Petey, that was great too (the stuffed version, which was very cute, of Jack will do). You must really miss your Girl and Jack.

    • sbranch says:

Happy you made it Silvia … Remnants was our heart magnet for the day, pulling in Girlfriends from everywhere! Yes I do miss my kitties, but I have Sammy here next to me right now, so at least I’m not furless. xoxo

  94. Hi Susan!
My hubby and I just returned from Ireland, he had a business trip there, and this time, I got to go! The last time he went, about 18 years ago, we had a toddler and a baby, so: no way! It was lovely, and relaxing; and very friendly people, the Irish! Have you been to Ireland? Chilly, coming from Arizona, but such a nice change! I had to buy a scarf the first day, that did the trick!
I just checked the events, and I see you will be in Albuquerque (where I grew up!), Nov. 22nd., but I am hoping you will stop in Arizona on the way??? My family and I already have a date on the 22nd, with Michael Buble (okay, so do a few thousand others, lol), so we can’t come to NM.
I haven’t been able to read all the comments here to see if you already talked about AZ, so forgive me, if you have! Do you and your peeps need bookstore names here? I think I already sent Changing Hands, in Tempe, but I can look for more! Let me know! Nancy, the SnowflakeLady

    • sbranch says:

Haven’t been to Ireland yet! But I’d love to go! No, nothing in Arizona this time…all we could manage in the time we had was Albuquerque and we were just lucky they still had a date open!

  95. Layne McAdoo says:

I just read a post that said that Susan was headed to Albuquerque for a book-signing. Where oh where in Albuquerque will she be and when???????
The information will be much, much appreciated!!!!
    Layne

    • sbranch says:

Yay, an Albuquerque person! Tell everybody! 🙂 We will be there on Nov. 22 at 5:30 at Bookworks and you can get all the details HERE if you scroll to the bottom (all the events are by date). I hope the 22nd works out for you Layne!

  96. Layne McAdoo says:

In my excitement I had not read far enough through the postings! I did find the location in Albuquerque. Hooray!!!!

  97. Tammy M says:

Please come to Florida!! We NEED you!!

  98. Paula Kirner says:

    Hi Susan,

On November 5th my dear friend Lorrie R ( with the little red cooper) came to see you at a book signing and she purchased your new book A FINE ROMANCE and Lorrie gave it to me as a gift. I LOVE your book! I am going to read it again! Thank you so much for signing for me. Someday I hope to be able to see you at one of your signings. Have a beautiful Christmas!

  99. Paula Kirner says:

Susan – I have two email addresses. I follow you at home and at work. Merry Christmas!!

  100. Claudia Foster says:

    Where is Ms. Branch’s market?
    Thank youm
