    Beautiful and inspiring.

  2. Diane says:

I think his dream has come true for the most part.

    • Sue says:

Diane, I have to respectfully disagree with you on this…. we still have a long way to go. I was hoping in my lifetime that the ‘race card’ would cease to exist, but it is still going strong.

  3. Karen P says:

  8. Tamar Weaver says:

Key Words: Content of Character. I would love to see much more content of character from all people of all races. How about lets everybody do what they can for themselves. Be givers, not takers.

  9. LOVE this speech! To have it all decked out “SusanB” style… priceless!!!

  10. I am so grateful to all who worked so hard to help Mr. King’s dreams to go forward. I can’t say that the work is completely done…but we are progressing! And my beautiful and colorful family is a living testimony to this.

I would not have the opportunity to live my own dreams and be blessed with my wonderful children if it had not been for Mr. King and so many others.

Let’s keep up the good fight!

    Thank you Susan.

    Maureen

I also thank you for this gentle but wonderful reminder of everything that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. stood for and represented! Wishing you a HAPPY day Susan!! Cooking anything SPECIAL today? You do know everything you cook is special to us…RIGHT!?!

    • sbranch says:

We just had BLT’s for lunch. Not exactly “special” in the full meaning of the word, but we are very fat and happy right now!

  12. Linda Pintarell says:

Shared it on my Facebook page; such beautiful, articulate words…if only…in my life time I could see this happen I could go to my resting place peacefully. Let’s all do our part to make it happen. Love thy neighbor…all of them.

I remember being a young person and experiencing this time in our country. I heard his words and shed a few tears – couldn’t even imagine that everyone wasn’t treated equally. My senior project (high school) was on this very movement – Martin Luther King – Rosa Parks – and all of the fellow human beings that took a risk and stepped out in front of “the bus” to make a difference. I always wished I could have been “right there” with them. And in spirit I was – and then as I got older I continued to find ways (no matter how small) to fight the battle and open people’s eyes to the fact that we are all human beings striving for the same things in life. I am proud to be an American, living in a land that allows us to speak our mind and strive for the “dream.” We have come a long ways, however there are many people around the country that still are looking for equality – the battle never ends – and it shouldn’t. If they aren’t black, they are brown – if they aren’t straight, they are gay – if they aren’t wealthy, they are poor – it is our job to keep “marching” for equality! And, thank God, we live in a country that gives us the freedom to do just that! God bless you, Martin Luther King and THANK YOU!

“I Have a Dream” is one of the most inspiring speeches I have ever heard! I still think of MLK when I think of what I Dream for my family, church family & America. We’ve come a long way, but I believe we still have a long way to go here in America…Amen

    • sbranch says:

We do, but we are going that way, one sure step at a time. There’s an old quote, I forgot who said it, “When you hold a person down, some part of you has to stay down too, in order to keep him there.” Either we all soar, or none of us do. I love the hope that we share. It’s the dream of freedom that brought so many of our forefathers to this country.

  15. Sue says:

I appreciate so much you supplying this, as I think this may just be the first time I have read this much of his speech at once. I have only heard snippets of it here and there. All men are ‘created equal’…I just wish that we would not even pay any attention to the outward appearance of others, but search to know what someone is all about underneath the skin. We have definitely come a long way, but just not there yet. It starts with each and every one of us to have MLK’s dream become a reality.

  16. Karen P (Wisconsin) says:

Reading this again today literally has given me chills on my arms! Such power in those words!

  17. Cynthia says:

This truly is an inspiring quote. On my newsfeed it showed up with the quote about givers and takers underneath, as if that was your quote, and I must admit I was so disappointed. I should have known that someone as lovely as you wouldn’t use that trite and over simplistic phrase. Let this be the year for empathy. I’m so fortunate, but I made sure that my kids, who had their educations provided at very nice universities, worked at places where people work at minimum wage and try to support a family. In a different vein, thanks for adding a bit of beauty to my life every day, when I look at your calendar!

  18. Wendy(Redsoxgal5) says:

That’s beautiful Susan..you made a wonderful painting of that! It would be a lovely print to publish. I think it would especially great in classrooms….

  19. Joyce C. says:

    Don’t stop believing…
