Martha’s Vineyard, Isle of Dreams – Press Release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Best-selling author Susan Branch to embark on 25-city book tour celebrating the release of her new book

Vineyard Haven, MA Spring Street Publishing is pleased to announce the publication of Susan Branch’s newest book, Martha’s Vineyard, Isle of Dreams, an illustrated memoir based on the personal diaries the author has kept all her life. In addition to the book’s highly anticipated May 2016 release, the title has attracted attention from Hollywood, and the rights have already been optioned for development into a film or television series.

According to Ms. Branch: “In addition to launching my new book, this tour will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the publication of my first book by re-visiting so many of the independent bookstores all around the country who have supported me all of these years, and I am thrilled and honored to have the opportunity to say thank you in person to so many wonderful booksellers from coast to coast.”

In Martha’s Vineyard, Isle of Dreams, Branch tells how, in the winter of 1982, when she was 34 and suffering with a broken heart, she ran away from her unhappy life in California to Martha’s Vineyard for what she thought would be a 3-month respite. Almost immediately, alone and slightly delirious, she “accidentally” bought a small cottage in the woods where she then started a new life for herself.

In this heartwarming tome, Branch interweaves reminiscences with hundreds of personal photographs as she takes readers back in time and reveals the charming island off the coast of Massachusetts as she experienced it. The author candidly shares her creative journey to self-discovery with laugh-out-loud honesty as she relates how she found her roots, started over, rebuilt her life, became a watercolor artist, then rose from the ashes to write, illustrate, and sell her first cookbook to a major publisher in 1985. In addition, Branch shares her personal journey of finding true love (against all odds and against her better judgment) in this inspiring fairy-tale-come-true.

Martha’s Vineyard, Isle of Dreams is the last in Branch’s long-awaited autobiographical trilogy, beginning with The Fairy Tale Girl (2015) and ending with A Fine Romance, Falling in Love with the English Countryside (2013). Like the other two books, her newest volume is hand-lettered and filled with Branch’s watercolor illustrations.

A prolific writer with over four million books sold, Branch is also the author of 12 Heart of the Home books and numerous calendars. Her body of work is consistently a reflection of the things Branch loves to celebrate, including the home-arts of cooking, gardening, homemaking, diary-keeping, family, best friends, entertaining, and the little things that make life sweet.
