Thank you for this recipe, my husband doesn’t like corned beef and cabbage so this will be great 🙂 Happy St. Patrick’s Day Susan and Joe and all of our Girlfriend’s 🙂

This sounds really nice to go with Irish Soda Bread that I made. One question on the wine. ..would like to not use a whole bottle. Could you use two cups water, one cup wine? Would three cups be enough for the liquid portion.?
Thanks..looking forward to trying it..nice to have another option besides corned beef!

Not sure why you wouldn’t want to use the wine, all the alcohol is cooked completely out of it if that is your concern. But if you’d rather, that’s perfectly OK, recipes are meant to be played with! I think you might try 2 cups chicken stock and 1 cup wine. . . that would work. Or maybe even 1 c. stock, 1 c. tomato juice, and 1 c. wine.

This sounds wonderful! It would warm the kitchen and the heart. I do have one question… Do I serve the noodles as a side dish or spoon the stew over the noodles? I’m definitely going to try this one.

Not only does this recipe sound good, I love the graphic design/layout of the recipe! The way everything fits together, the headlines “Irish Stew” and “with buttered noodles” . . . just love how fluid they are! A feast for the tummy and the eyes!

Thanks for this recipe Susan. It sounds de-lish and I can’t wait to try it. I love buttered noodles, don’t know why I never thought of serving them with stew! I heard that if you add food coloring (green for St. Paddy’s) to the boiling water your pasta will turn that color! Happy St. Paddy’s Day to you and yours. xoxoxoxo

I have spent most of my life running away from stew. Hiding it in my napkin. Pretending to be sick. Etc. But I made this today, and it was sublime! The wine, parsnips, and sweet potatoes gave it zip. The raisins gave it body. The orange gave it brightness. And the cayenne–wow. Thank you, this is a keeper!
