This is wonderful for Christmas morning brunch. Add curry powder and salad cherries plus chunk pineapple and cook longer. Nice with sliced ham and sausage casserole.

Sue, just tried your Fruit Compote over the weekend and it is SO GOOD! And except for the brown sugar, it’s healthy too. Nice to have a warm and comforting dessert that does NOT involve a luscious batter or crust of any kind. For some [irrational] reason, I think brown sugar is more healthy than white. I don’t really think it is – but that’s my story and I’m sticking to it. PS – I used pecans [no walnuts in the house at the moment] and it worked out Just Fine.

Isn’t that good? It’s always so unexpected. Did you try it with ice cream?

No ice cream in the house at the moment either, but that IS a good idea. I’ve made fruit compotes before – different mixtures of dried fruits microwaved with a sprinkling of water in a Pyrex custard dish. But I really like your addition of the butter and nuts for a little indulgent richness. Pairing it with Cornish Game Hens is a perfect idea. :>)
