We’re having dinner of lobster and seafood with friends. I’m making your Chocolate Bundt cake in the Tree pan. We’ll be home early and watch the ball drop at 11 o’clock here in the midwest and call it a night. Think I’m getting old(er)… Been thinking of my intentions and will have my journal ready to go. Then we celebrate Dad’s 82nd birthday on New Year’s day! Fun. Wishing you all the best. Happiest of New Years to you, Joe and the kitties! xoxo, Jeanette

I’m cooking today, making appetizers for a small dinner party tonight, just down the block. New Year’s Day, that’s walks, and quiet time, I love that day!

          • Jeanette says:

Sounds divine, Susan. I’m sure your appetizers will be the hit of the gathering. Yum. Enjoy. And, quite time – perfect way to start the new year off. Blessings and hugs to you. You really tickled my Dad with your Happy Birthday wish. He was all smiles. :). Thank you.

  7. queenmum says:

Hello Susan, and Happy New Year to you and Joe! We will be with the family at my Mother-in-law’s, playing ceramic dominoes, chatting and laughing, and eating way too many good homemade snacks (and a pumpkin cheesecake, but shhhh… they don’t know we are bringing it). Hopefully the kiddos will phone from across the country at OUR midnight, and not theirs. I will spend New Year’s Day as I always do…leafing through my day book and remembering all of the wonderful things that made up 2011, and wondering what 2012 has in store for all of us. Whatever you do, enjoy your evening!
    XOXOXO from queenmum

  15. Nellie says:

Lovely song/video, Susan! Thanks so much for sharing it with us.

Our time during the day of New Year’s Eve will be spent scouring some antique shops looking for blue Mason jars which our daughter wants to use on the tables at her wedding. Need I tell you that she is going with a rustic theme?:-) She hopes to put curly willow and hydrangea in the jars along with something white that I cannot remember.

We are not much for partying, so we will probably watch a movie or some kind of programming on TV. We have a difficult time staying awake for the ball to drop.

Sending along Happy New Year wishes for you and Joe! Enjoy!

    xoxo

Oh, I LOVE Zoey.. first loved her that movie with Kate Hudson and Matthew McC….she was hilarious!! stole the show if you ask me.. but don’t ask me the name of the movie.. can’t remember those things most of the time. That is why I am thankful for your list of movies! I will spend some of 2012 exploring those I haven’t seen. Going to a friends house with three other couples and enjoy the fellowship and catching up with each other from the holidays. Hoping that being with other people will help up stay up to midnight, as I am working today and getting up early is NOT conducive to late nights! LOL…My wish of happiness, healthy, and many more adventures in 2012 to you and yours Susan! Oh, gotta eat us some Hoppin’ John for luck too! 🙂 Oh, name of movie just came to me… Failure to Launch!! Ha!! My brain is really clicking today!!! LOL…

    • Diana says:

Dee-lite-full! Thanks for finding this vid. Going to a friend’s house, playing “aluminum foil” games, eating stuffed shells, which I’m making today, and handing out some Moon bookmarks to people who will appreciate them. How long did it take you to paint the charming bookmark (Don’t worry- only a dozen bookmarks for our friends- is that OK)?Happy Almost New Year’s!

  29. Stephanie says:

Love Love Love this! She has a beautiful voice – great arrangement – just lovely.

This song and Barry Manilow’s “It’s just another New Years Eve” are my two favorite New Years Eve songs (maybe the only two??).

  32. Francine says:

What am I doing New Years Eve???? At 4:00 I am picking up my 17 year old granddaughter. I learned on Dec. 15th that she was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma!! And although it has a very high cure rate, it’s a fight to get there. She’ll loose her hair for sure, (which is a hard thing when you’re 17 – she got it cut short on Christmas Day) and she’s already had a number of blood transfusions! Anyhow, she requested coming to spend the night with me and my husband! Aw!!! So it will be a somewhat quite night. Tomorrow we are having a pajama brunch with any family members that would like to come. The kids always seem to like our jammie brunches!! And so do I. I’ve got a loaf of banana bread in the oven as I write. And that’s it! Other than waiting for our new baby granddaughter who is due Jan. 6th!!! Happy New Year to you and Joe!!

    • sbranch says:

Happy New Year, Susan, to you and Joe! Thank you for all the beauty, wonder, and fun you’ve shared with us this year through your blog.

My New Year’s: This afternoon a friend came over and we made high tea for ourselves, my husband, and his caregiver, and it was so special and fun – we all enjoyed it. Tonight it’s just my husband and me, staying home, appreciating our cozy house and being together. Tomorrow my parents will come over for brunch to welcome in the new year. In Holland, where my husband is from, they call this time Old and New, which I like: acknowledge the past year before welcoming the new one.

  38. Judy Murrah says:

I just posted my second blog all by my self. I’m so giddy I don’t need any champagne to celebrate. Hubby is grilling ribs and we are going to watch some old movies as you suggested. All is well in our household.

    • sbranch says:

Isn’t it exciting? My finger still shakes as I hold it above the “publish” button, to send a blog live!!! Congratulations Judy!

  39. Oh my, love your site!! made me smile! What am I doing New Years Eve? I went to dinner with some very special friends … came home and thinking of New Year’s Eve …. I lost my wonderful hubby of 52 years a few weeks ago and the moon made me think of him. Pleasant thoughts … a good life we had and I miss him so much. He is my Man in the Moon!!
    Pink Hugs,
    Dee

    • sbranch says:

Our daughter came over last night and was so excited to show me a sweet little video….and lo and behold it was the “What are you doing New Year’s Eve?” that you posted. That is the loveliest little tune. Thank you for sharing.

  46. Georgie says:

Happy NEW Year Susan! We gathered with family for the evening, sharing laughter around a table of wonderful food. LAter in the evening we shared a special moment as we stepped outside, had a bonfire on a silver tray, of silvery candles surrounded with glistening bath salts and sugared cranberries. Breathing in the crisp night air, with the twinkling stars over our heads, we lit sparklers and made heart felt wishes!!!

I love the quote from Peter Pan… 2nd star to the right, as well as a line from the song…
The second star to the right
Shines in the night for you
To tell you that the dreams you plan
    Really can come true

Thanks for sharing your dreams with us Susan and taking us with you as you fly right on til morning!!! Georgie

  47. Cheryl says:

I love that you posted this! I had already seen it and just loved it – she is so adorable!
